That’s right, there are exactly 3 years, 9 months, and 15 days to go before America will go to the polls to choose its next president. What are the things that determine if this administration is successful? What are the things that will be important in 1384 days? Will people still have a feeling of overwhelming “hope” in the face of difficult and tragic times? Who will be seen as the new and creative voices for America? Will Obama live up to the almost impossible hype and mystique that has been created around him?
By taking a step back, it’s amazing to me to see how uncertain these times are. The global political culture changes almost on a daily basis, and things that are vitally important today may seem trite and outdated by the time the next election cycle comes around. After the last eight tumultuous years, I wouldn’t mind a period of stability for a change. Let’s see how successful this administration can be in accomplishing their self-determined goals.
